This week I facilitated the first course in a leadership series for Walsh College in Troy Michigan. “Manage the conversation” was one leader’s objective. What a profound objective! If each of us manage our conversations, we are certain to improve our productivity and our relationships. A great first step to take prior to having a conversation is to identify the goals you want to achieve from two perspectives: action and relationship.
Ask yourself the following questions to guide goal identification:
- After the conversation, what do you want the other person to do?
- How do you want that individual to feel about working with you?
